Ways to Reach Me

The best way to reach me is usually by email. Here is the full rundown of options, including advice for specific kinds of inquiry, such as if you are interested in doing undergraduate research or if you would like to request a letter of recommendation.

Email

wallingf@cs.uni.edu

In Person

My office is East Bartlett 022, inside the Computer Science complex in EBAR 019.

See my schedule for drop-in office hours and class and meeting times. I am often available in the office when not scheduled to be elsewhere.

It is okay for you call me "Eugene", even if you're a student. If you prefer to use a title, any combination of "Doctor", "Professor", "Eugene", and "Wallingford" is fine.

Social Media

I am most active these days on Mastodon, as @wallingf. I still occasionally post on Twitter as well, also as @wallingf.

In general, if you find a social media account under @wallingf (such as on Bluesky), it's probably me. Some are placeholder accounts that I don't actively monitor.

Phone

Please try email first. If you are a student and need to provide a phone number related to a recommendation, either of these numbers will do.

Interested in Doing Undergraduate Research?

I love to supervise undegraduate research projects, especially if you have a project in mind that lies at the intersection of our interests. I also have an ongoing project on genetic programming that may interest students who don't already have their own idea.

This page for students interested in doing undergraduate research with me includes links to a discussion of my basic philosophy for student projects, some past projects I've supervised, a list of possible research projects to jog your thinking, and a description of how to propose your own project. You can also find an up-to-date list of past projects I've supervised on my teaching page. Check them out if you think you might like to work with me.
