Project Prelude
Project and Team Selection
|
Due: Tuesday, September 15, 12:30 PM
Introduction
In order for you to gain experience with the different
elements of software engineering, including some of the
tools and techniques we study, you will do a small-scale
team project over the rest of the semester. This
'assignment' asks for data that I can use to assign
projects and teams. Please answer these questions
seriously!
Tasks
- I described four options for projects:
- a system to support faculty and staff in the College
of Natural Sciences with annual Faculty Activity
Reports and associated departmental reports
- a system to support faculty and staff in the Department
of Computer Science create course schedules and
produce required reports
- a system to support me as a runner create, maintain,
and use data about my training runs, including routes
and trend analysis
- a system that you propose. There is at least one
ground rule: you may not be your client, or
even the primary user of the system
Which of the projects would you like to work on?
If you are interested or willing to work on more than
one of these, please say so. That will give me more freedom
in placing.
I cannot guarantee that you will be assigned to
work on a particular project, but will do my best.
- List the programming languages that you can use capably
on this project.
- List at most one person in the course with whom
you would like to work on the project.
- List at most one person in the course with whom
you would like not to work on the project.
- List any other constraints that you would like for me to
take into account where possible. In particular, if you
have an especially restrictive work or class schedule
that will affect your ability to meet with teammates,
please let me know.
Deliverables
By the due date and time, submit your answers in a text
file using the
electronic submission system.
