This week's CD consists of several related questions on the topics of Programming Assessment and Grading for Equity
Programming Assessment
Please answer the following questions:
- From your experiences as a teacher, what are the most difficult elements of assessment in general?
- Based on these experiences, what do you think are (will be) the most difficult elements of assessment of programming?
- From your experiences as a learner of programming, what can a teacher do during assessment to best assist you?
- What things do you think that you can do as a teacher BEFORE making assignments/exams that will help facilitate the assessment process.
- Which technique(s) above, or something ELSE that isn't there, do you think you will/do prefer for assessment of programming?
Grading for Equity
Please answer the following questions:
- From your experiences as a student, what elements of Grading for Equity are appealing?
- From your experiences as a teacher, what elements of Grading for Equity are appealing?
- From your experiences as a teacher, are there elements of Grading for Equity that you disagree with?
- From your experiences as a teacher, what elements of Grading for Equity seem "scary" or "challenging"
Submission
This counts as a competency demo in the course. In other words, each question will be assigned a score of 0-4 and an overall grade for the activity will be assigned.
While these questions are somewhat a matter of opinion - that is, they have multiple "right answers" - they can still be graded for competence based on how well you explain and defend your answer(s). Recognize that the degree to which you do so will have an impact on your grade.
